This pretty antique Louis Philippe mercury mirror has a stunning bright gold leaf patina and design around its frame. Note the elegant pearl beading ensconcing the mirror at the innermost part of the frame. The mirror shows a clear reflection and can be used in both practical and decorative settings. This would be a perfect addition to modern and classic interiors alike. Note the photos to examine the patina on the bottom corners where some of the gilt leaf has rubbed off / darkened over time.

This mirror contains its original mercury glass which sparkles beautifully in the light. The technique of making mercury glass mirrors was retired in the early 1900s. The mercury is fixed behind the glass in a solidified, non harmful state.

Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
