This spectacular large Parisian floral watercolor dates from the 1800s. The hand-painted piece exhibits a myriad of colorful flowers gracefully flowing out of a highly decorated urn on a stone pediment. The background shows a large tree lingering on the left side and the lure of a continuing garden with a glimpse of a stone wall on the right-hand side beneath a dusk blue sky above.
The watercolor colors are rich and vibrant for its age. The piece is framed with a simple, slim wooden frame perhaps acting as a wall panel in its first life. This would be a delightful addition to any modern or traditional interior perhaps fixed above a console in an entryway or as an alluring detail in a powder bath. Artist unknown.
Note some losses to the painting surface - see photos. Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
