Dating from the nineteenth century, France, two large tobacco pots in Beauvais brown stoneware completed with domed brass lids. This charming pair would have likely been seen on display in a tobacco shop in the late 1800s. They are decorated with oak leaves and the word "Tabac" across the fronts.
The side grips feature decorative moldings complementary to the decorations around the piece. Note their brass tops feature some dents on the ball handle consistent with age and use. One has a black drip mark in the lower corner as seen in detail photos.
