19th century French niche from a chapel 41"

An enchanting carved timber niche dating from the nineteenth century, possibly earlier. Constructed from a mixture of different timbers, there is wonderful framing and a shell motif on the top section. The paint has been recently sanded off to reveal the lovely light timber underneath. A rare find and a piece that can be used in so many decorative ways.
