This unusual earthenware vessel is in fact a hot water bottle from the nineteenth century. It has a little spout on top where hot water can be poured and then a stopper added. It is from the Auvergne region in central France. The pale gray stoneware is very pretty and will complement other pottery from the same period. This similar stoneware hot water bottle is also available.

Light wear.
