This small 19th-century copper saucepan features a lid and wrought iron handles fixed with pretty copper rivets. The tin interior shows wear, making it ideal for decorative use. A charming addition to any copper collection. Originally it would have been used for making sauces from a reduction.
French copper cookware originated in the 18th century in Villedieu-les-Poêles, Normandy. Its popularity grew due to copper's excellent heat conductivity. In the 19th century, advancements in manufacturing improved its quality. Hand-hammering techniques were perfected, making French copper cookware highly sought after by both chefs and home cooks.
