A sculptural silver-plated ice bucket in the style of Maria Pergay, dating from the 1970s. Of gently flared cylindrical form, the body is finished with a hand-hammered surface that catches and reflects the light beautifully. A twisted rope motif encircles the rim, tied at the front with tassel-like details that lend the piece a distinctive blend of modernism and neoclassical elegance. Lightweight and unsigned. Condition is very good overall, with light surface wear and traces of verdigris inside, consistent with age and use.
The combination of polished metal, tactile hammered texture, and stylized rope ornament closely recalls the decorative objects Maria Pergay designed in France during the 1960s and 1970s, when she transformed silver plate and stainless steel into sculptural forms of striking refinement. Her work remains highly sought after and extensively documented in the history of 20th-century French design, making pieces in this aesthetic particularly collectible today.
Whether used as a champagne cooler, repurposed as a sculptural vase with a liner, or styled as a utensil holder beside a cocktail station, this piece brings a glamorous yet restrained 1970s sensibility with a subtle touch of whimsy. The bright silver plate and softly hammered surface catch the light beautifully, bringing movement and luminosity to a bar, dining room, or entertaining space.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
