Dating from the end of the eighteenth century, a superb walnut "chevalet" rolling art easel from France. Artwork may be placed on the easel's wooden rest in the middle which is adjustable. To adjust this height, first firmly pull the brass knob on the left side outward, then, using your other hand, turn/crank the wood handle on the right connected to the s-shaped iron piece which activates the rope pulley system hidden behind the frame as you turn clockwise or counterclockwise.
It features an adjustable iron hook at the top for holding the top of a painting's frame in place based on its height. This piece adjusts with the sliding wood piece that can be loosened and tightened using the protruding screw. It rests on rollers that function. A magnificent piece to display your prized works of art with an antique, French touch.
This painting is displayed on the easel in the last image and video.
