18th Century French blown glass wasp trap

This hand blown French wasp and fly trap dates from the 18th Century. Designed to be used outdoors to catch flies, wasps and mosquitoes. A sweet syrup was put inside to attract the insects - once the insect enters the bottle it cannot escape. The lid is not the original.
