Featuring traces of its original light blue-grey-white painted patina, a grand eighteenth-century boiserie mirror from France. Its original mercury mirror is in excellent condition and one can easily see ones reflection. This antique mirror features a classic trumeau design with simple, carved wood plaques crowning the top above the mirror. This large piece will make an impressive statement in an entry or resting on a fireplace mantle in a room with tall ceilings.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
This mirror contains its original mercury glass which sparkles beautifully in the light. The technique of making mercury glass mirrors was retired in the early 1900s. The mercury is fixed behind the glass in a solidified, non harmful state.
