French lightning rod with bullet holes 17th century

This spectacular French lightning rod or epi de faitage came from a large home that most likely dated to the 17th century. Made from zinc, it sits on a square base that holds a lantern-like form, then rises to a sharp peak. The holes in the sides are bullet holes that are most likely from both world wars.
